Catena’s history begins in 1967 when Volvo forms AB Volvator to restructure its retailer network. The name of the company changes to AB Catena in conjunction with the stock market launch in 1984, in connection with which Volvo reduces its holding to 40 percent. The company subsequently expands within areas including finance, commerce and property. In 1994, the process of streamlining operations to vehicle distribution commences, with most of the non-core operations being sold. In 1997, AB Catena changes name to Bilia. The property portfolio is gradually developed and, in 2005, Bilia owns 34 properties through Catena with a market value of SEK 2,020 million.
