Catenas history

Bilia’s origins go back to 1967 when Volvo established AB Volvator as part of efforts to restructure its sales network. The company changed its name to AB Catena in conjunction with its public listing in 1984, when Volvo reduced its ownership stake to 40%. During the subsequent ten years, there was an expansion into new areas of operations such as finance, real estate and trading. As of 1994, the company worked in a target-oriented manner in streamlining operations to focus on vehicle distribution, which meant that most of operations outside core business were divested. During 1997, Catena changed its name to Bilia. Over time, the real estate portfolio developed and on December 31, 2005, Bilia owned, through Catena, 34 real estate units with a total market value of SEK 2,020 M.

On April 19, 2006, Bilia’s Annual General Meeting resolved to distribute the shares in Catena to Bilia shareholders.Catena shares were listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange on April 26, 2006.
